What’s the all the hoopla about Hoopla?

One of the biggest problems I face as an avid reader is the “too many books, not enough time” predicament. My bedside table is overflowing, my bookshelf is torn asunder and I frequently find books under my pillows at night. All because once I pick up a new book I can’t help but start devouring it, leading me to reading several books at one time. My bedside table is overflowing, bookshelf all cluttered, and I frequently find books under my pillows at night. As every book lover knows, the real problem isn’t the number of books, it’s that pesky realization that after a full day at work there just aren’t enough hours in the day to spend reading. Fortunately for the savvy bookworm, the library has a Hoopla account.

Hoopla, if you haven’t heard of it, is an amazing program that lets you check out eBooks, audiobooks, CDs movies, and TV shows. Think of it like your portable, digital library. Suddenly, there are a lot more reading hours in the day. That stop and go morning commute up College Ave. can last all day as long as I’ve got Anansi Boys playing from my smartphone. I’ve got instant access to graphic novels right to my tablet; which means I don’t have to stand in the comic shop for an hour debating if I like it enough to buy it. I have access to hundreds of CDs, making monotonous hours at the gym now a journey of musical discovery.

Point is, Hoopla is amazing, and it’s absolutely free through Poudre River Public Library District! Signing up is easy, I used the Hoopla App, went to the Log In page, selected my home library, and just typed in my email and the numbers from the back of my key chain library card. Thirty seconds later, I had an account, and since it’s linked to my email I don’t have to dig out my library card every time I want to rent a title. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get back to reading Saga Vol 1 on my iPad! Happy Hoopla-ing!
