June is Pride Month!
Every year, June is dedicated to celebrating the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ+) community, with this year marking the 50th anniversary of LGBTQ+ Pride traditions.
Poudre River Public Library District is committed to welcoming and honoring the diversity of our community. We celebrate Pride by supporting social and self-acceptance, achievements, and inclusiveness. The library is a place where everyone belongs.
Colorado is home to several local organizations and chapters with extensive resources including SPLASH NOCO, Colorado Name Change Project, PFLAG, NOCO Equality, NOCO Safe Space and CSU’s Pride Resouce Center. You may recognize some of these groups from previous library programs! These groups provide opportunities to learn, support, and empower our LGBTQ community. On a national level, additional resources and learning opportunities include The Trevor Project and GLAAD.
Library staff collaborated on creating a book list for kids, tweens, teens, and adults highlighting 40 LGBTQ+ stories, authors, and characters. For additional book recommendations, check out the 2020 Lambda Award Winners.
Happy Pride, ya’ll!
