There’s More to Love About the Children’s Collection

If you haven’t visited the Children’s section of the libraries lately, you may have missed some exciting additions to the collection!

Both the in-library collection and the online digital selection of materials has expanded to include new read-alongs and Playaways, new educational films and TV programs, and fun Gadgets & Things for the entire family to enjoy.

Vox Books Added

The Vox read-along books take print and audio to a whole new level! These audio-enabled book readers mean no more worrying about misplacing CDs or trying to find tablets or PCs to plug into. The audio portion actually “lives” in the print book! All you have to do is push a button to listen and read. Plus, each Vox book has an earphone jack available if you want to use your earphones.

The Vox books are shelved with the other read-alongs in the Children’s area at each library.

New Playaways Available

Don’t miss the newest children’s titles available as Playaways, audio media players you take anywhere you want to listen to a great story! There are a variety of new titles perfect for celebrating Black History Month or for enjoying anytime of the year!

Kanopy Kids Debuts

Kanopy is a new on-demand film streaming service available to library cardholders. The service includes Kanopy Kids, is a collection of award-winning films and shorts, educational series, storytime classics, and television programs especially for children. Kanopy partnered with Common Sense Media to provide developmentally-appropriate age ratings for videos on Kanopy Kids.

Kanopy Kids is accessible through the new Kanopy on-demand film/video streaming service at the Library District.

New Gadgets & Things

The entire family can enjoy visiting the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery for free with the new Museum of Discovery Family Pass available at the Library. The family passes are the newest addition to the Gadgets & Things Collection and are available at each library location. Checkout is limited to one week and the passes can be placed on hold.

The Museum Family Pass covers the cost of admission to the Museum of Discovery. It does not include the Digital Dome. To see what’s happening at the museum and what’s currently on exhibit, visit the website: www.fcmod.org or call 970-221-6738. The museum is closed on Mondays.

The latest addition to the Gadgets & Things Collection is a Family Pass to the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.

Bob Books Bundled

Your child’s favorite beginning reader series is now easier to find (and easier to keep track of). Bob books have been grouped together on library shelves as “BOB” and offered in bundles. No more trying to keep track of those tiny books scattered around the house and car. The newly-bundled books are packaged together in kits to keep all the books in one place for easy reading and easy returns to the library. For the last 40 years, Bob Books have provided beginning readers with amusing stories and simple, consistent vocabulary to inspire children to say, “I read the whole book!”

The popular Bob Books are available to check out in “bundles” so you never lose any of those little books in your car or kid’s bedroom.

Children’s Mystery Selection

Everybody loves a good mystery or whodunit! You can now find all of the children’s mystery and detective stories in one convenient place: Children’s Mystery. New titles have been added to the mystery series whenever possible, so your child can binge read from the first book to the last.
