What’s Included in My Virtual Summer Reading Account?

There’s more than meets the eye with the 2020 Virtual Summer Reading Challenge! Don’t miss these great additions and updates. Be sure to also keep up with the online events calendar for a full list of the fun virtual programs and weekly activity challenges.

STREAM On! (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, Math)

Hooray for STREAM – there are so many wonderful activities that fuel the imagination, inspire curiosity, and make our world a better place!

Do at least one STREAM activity in each category to earn online badges – collect them all, but don’t stop there! Challenge yourself and see how many STREAM activities you can accomplish this summer… our suggestions and your own too! Log your completed activities to receive your digital badges and printable PDF certificates.

Download-and-Print Reading Logs

The online Summer Reading account also has links so you can download and print a copy of the 10- and 50- hour reading logs to track your progress. The reading logs have been simplified this year so you only need to print a single version which is appropriate for any age group.

Download & Print PDFs:
10-Hour Reading Log (English)
10-Hour Reading Log (Spanish)

50-Hour Reading Log (English)
50-Hour Reading Log (Spanish)

Download-and-Print Coloring Sheets

As a bonus this year, we’ve created downloadable, printable coloring sheets of the designs for each age group. But why limited yourself to one? Print them all!

Download & Print PDFs:
Babies / Toddlers
Kids / Tweens
Teens
Adults

Print, color, and share your finished colored pages on Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #PoudreLibraries. We’ll share as many of your posts as possible.

eMedia Reading and Services Lists

In the Virtual Summer Reading account this summer we also have eMedia lists and services handpicked by our Librarians and linked to hoopla, Overdrive and other providers so you can access great digital content from home.

We always have Librarian-recommended reading lists of print materials on the Readers Café and the kids, babies, and teen pages of the library website.

Phone-a-Story

This one brings back all the feels of decades past when you could call the library on the phone and listen to a storyteller read a story.

Everybody loves a good story, and now you can call in 24/7 to enjoy one whenever you’re in the mood! Phone-a-Story features a new story, song, or rhyme in English and Spanish each week, and you can call in and listen as many times as you want. Just phone in to 970-829-1301 starting Sunday, May 31 and follow the instructions.

*Remember to record the time spent listening to Phone-a-Story in your Summer Reading account.

“Reading Makes Cents” FUNdraiser

Help your community just by reading! The Poudre River Friends of the Library have pledged to donate $3,000 to the Northern Colorado COVID-19 Response Fund if participants in the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge reach 200,000 hours read. It’s easy to participate: just sign up for Summer Reading and track your hours in your online account.
