Delightful Gnome: Gnome Zone Weeklong Challenge

Posted on June 22, 2020 by Katie Auman in Library Blog, Library Programs

This week’s Gnome Zone gives you the opportunity to create a mindful practice as an individual or a family. Recognizing emotions increases emotional intelligence, and reinforcing positive feelings is a way to enhance a person’s emotional resiliency.

Supplies needed

  • You just need yourself!

Here’s what you do

Explore your inner world with an intention to discover what brings you a feeling of delight.

Use any or all of your senses: touch, sight, smell, taste, and hearing to find out what delights you that day.

Listen to the sounds of the Poudre River

Experience delight wherever you find it: look up in the sky at a puffy cloud, listen to the sounds of a river, smell your favorite food, or…

Challenge extensions

Create an expression of your delightful feelings: journal in words, record sounds, make up a dance, paint or draw in pictures the things in your world that bring you a feeling of delight.

“The Why” behind the Challenge

Recognizing emotions increases emotional intelligence, and reinforcing positive feelings is a way to enhance a person’s emotional resiliency. Creating a mindful practice as an individual or as a family is also a tool that can be used to connect in meaningful ways.

Share your results with us by using the hashtag #PoudreLibraries in your social media posts.
