updated 6/13/19

Matey, did ye know June be National Audiobook Month? What a perfect time o’ year too, when people be roadtrippin’, an’ travelin’, an’ exercisin’. Ye can take an audiobook anywhere! Now, ye may be sayin’, “Captain Cache, I don’t own any audiobooks.” Don’t ye worry, me friend. Thanks to yer local library, ye have access to thousands o’ audiobooks through the Answer Cache. Just navigate to the handy DOWNLOAD button on the Libraries’ homepage, look for the Download section. There ye will find RB Digital and three other vendors, yer audiobook goldmine.

As I said, audiobooks be great fer road trips, and with RB Digital ye can download ’em an’ take ’em with ye in the car (o’ ship)! Downloadin’ the audiobooks straight to yer Android or Apple device allows ye to listen to them in the car without using any data! I’ve taken the liberty o’ planning yer summer road trip by pairing some great stories with popular travel destinations. Take a gander…

True Grit by Charles Portis

6 hours and 17 minutes. That’s about how long it would take ye to drive from Fort Collins to Ridgeway, CO where ye can rest yer bones at the True Grit Cafe.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland
by Louis Carroll

2 hours and 54 minutes. That’s about how long the drive from Fort Collins to Pikes Peak is.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

19 hours and 38 minutes. Drive from Fort Collins to Seattle, Washington while listening to this well loved and classic story of four girls.

Twelfth Night by Shakespeare

7 hours and 3 minutes. Ho! This audiobook version o’ the very comical play takes about as long as it takes to drive from Fort Collins to Yellowstone National Park.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

11 hours and 31 minutes. As ye drive from Fort Collins to the Grand Canyon, listen to the story of a boy’s adventures in the American South.

The Frog Princess by E.D. Baker

5 hours and 19 minutes. This cute twist on the classic fairytale will keep ye entertained all the way from Fort Collins to Grand Junction, CO.

The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot

6 hours and 45 minutes. That’s right! The popular movie be first a book. The audio version will last ye from Fort Collins to Salt Lake City, UT.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Montgomery

Combined 17 hours and 28 minutes. These two classic stories with strong female leads will cover yer trip from Fort Collins to San Diego!

Buckos, get listenin’. June be almost over, and ye’ve got yerself an audiobook to finish. Tell the world about it by using the hashtag #AudioMonth or #JIAM.
