Summer Reading Challenge Gifts and Prizes Available August 1 – September 30!

Posted on July 27, 2020 by Library Staff in Library Blog, Library Programs

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge has been a bit different from years past due to the pandemic, and we appreciate everyone who has joined us for a “Summer to Imagine” and stayed motivated to read great books.

You still have until August 16, 2020 to set up your online account and record the minutes you’ve spent reading. Just visit www.PoudreLibraries.org/src to get started.

Signup Gifts

Everyone who registers for the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge by August 16 is eligible to receive two packets of seeds as a sign-up gift. Imagine how zinnias, cosmos, or black-eyed susans might brighten up your garden or patio next spring.

You may sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge online or by calling the Answer Center at 970-221-6740.

Prizes for Babies & Toddlers, Kids, and Teens:

Babies, toddlers, children, and teens that read – or listen to – at least 10 hours this summer are eligible to pick up a free book at any Poudre Library during Grab-and-Go hours starting August 1. Prize books will be available for pick-up through September 30.

Readers are encouraged to preview the books being given away and have several choices in mind. Please remember that specific titles will only be available while supplies last.

Prizes for Adults:

Adults that have read – or listened to – at least 10 hours this summer will be entered into a drawing to win one of twelve $20 gift cards from Old Firehouse Books.

How to pick up your gifts and prizes:

Signup gifts for all ages, and book prizes for babies, toddlers, kids, and teens will be available at all Poudre Libraries during Grab-and-Go hours from August 1 through September 30. The seed packets will be available as supplies last.

Readers will not need to check in with staff when they pick up their seed packets and prize books, but staff will be available to answer any questions.

We do ask that that readers register for the Summer Reading Challenge before they pick up their sign up gift, and that they have logged at least 10 hours before they pick up their prize book. The last day to register and log hours will be August 16.

Adult readers must be registered for the Summer Reading Challenge and have logged 10 hours by August 16 in order to be eligible for the drawing. The winners will be selected on August 17 and winners will need to come to the Old Town Library, during either Curbside or Grab-and-Go hours, in order to pick up their gift card.

Please contact the Answer Center if you need help registering for the Summer Reading Challenge, or logging your hours.

More information on how to collect your signup gifts and reading prizes is available on the Summer Reading Challenge website.

Reading Makes Cents

Don’t stop there! Keep logging the hours you’ve spent reading this summer in order to help support your community.

The Poudre River Friends of the Library have pledged to donate $3,000 to the Northern Colorado COVID-19 Response Fund if we surpass the total number of Summer Reading hours logged last summer.

The 2019 total was just under 200,000 hours. Can you help us break that number by August 16?

Let’s make this a Summer to Imagine for our community! Thank you, Poudre River Friends of the Library!

The Response Fund is administered by The Community Foundation of Northern Colorado and United Way of Larimer County. You can learn more about the Fund at www.nocofoundation.org/covid-19.
