Take-Home Technology: Wi-Fi Hotspots

Instant internet connection in any location – this is the dream for people working, studying, and online shopping during the past few months of stay-at-home and safer-at-home mandates.

Luckily, Poudre River Public Libraries now offers Jetpack MiFi hotspots for checkout. As part of the Library’s Gadgets & Things Collection, hotspots are now offered at all three library locations and can be picked up through the library’s curbside services and in-person once library buildings reopen.

How does a Jetpack MiFi hotspot work?

Think of it as a mini-Wi-Fi service. It’s a small device you plug into a power source, connect to your phone/tablet settings, and use to connect online. It takes only a few minutes to set up and activate the hotspot with your device.

It’s a great tool for students joining online classes, job seekers filling out online applications, and people requesting community services or ordering supplies during the pandemic. You can also use the hotspot to join the Library’s online programs offered through our event calendar.

To check out a hotspot, either visit the Library website and search the catalog or call the Answer Center at 970-221-6740. Hotspots check out for one week at a time.

Remember to keep checking back to the library’s Gadgets and Things collection to find more new tech items.
