Writers of all ages are invited to enter a short, short spooky story contest for a chance to win DBA Downtown Bucks gift cards.
The Poudre River Public Library District’s amateur writing contest is open to anyone age 6 and older who lives in the Library District’s boundary area. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each of the four age categories, and winners will be announced at the “Spooky Stories in Library Park” event October 30, 2014.
Writers are allowed to submit one story of at least 500 words and no more than 1000 words to firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions must include a title, the writer’s name and age, a phone number and/or email address and be submitted as a Microsoft Word document file. The Library District will accept entries September 5 – October 5, 2014.
Stories will be scored on their scariness, creativity, uniqueness, lack of grammatical flaws and how well it fits the contest requirements. Each story will receive a maximum of 5 points from 3 different judges within each of the categories.
Contest entries will be combined to create an e-book of stories that will be promoted and available for download on the Library’s website. They may be adapted to additional formats in the future; however at no point is authorship credit removed.
